Buffered Peptone Water HQ (ISO) is a non-selective pre-enrichment medium used for the isolation of Salmonella spp. from food, animal feed, and environmental samples, in accordance with ISO 6579-1:2017. It supports the recovery of sub-lethally damaged Salmonella cells, enhancing detection prior to selective enrichment. The medium can be used with Salmonella Selective Supplement (NCM4000) as part of Neogen’s One Broth One Plate workflow, while still allowing for additional analyses such as enumeration before selective enrichment. Formulated according to ISO standards, it contains peptone as a nutrient source, sodium chloride for osmotic balance, and phosphate buffers to maintain a stable pH of 7.0.
